Back in action!

Postby Darkfoxx » Fri Oct 14, 2016 2:29 pm

Long story short, the VPS that hosts the forums and TS started having all kinds of issues. The root cause seems to be one of the shared binaries that MySQL uses. I think a bad/broken package was automatically installed at some point which lead to the MySQL databases becoming corrupted. I had to hand restore a lot of the data using a variety of methods. Luckily I was able to dump the full forum database before the server started having serious issues, but the recent week 5 survey responses for fantasy fb didn't make it. I did make notes with the responses that I received though, so we're all good I think.

On a positive note, I transferred everything to my "server" at work so I don't have to pay $28 a month anymore for hosting. Please let me know if you notice any speed differences either on here or when using TS. It's technically a faster machine...but old balls. I still need to tweak the web server and database settings, though.

The "server" specs:
Dual core AMD Athalon 64 X2 3600+
4 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
100 Mbps Cogent fiber connection

Try now? I had attachments disabled for all non-admins in this Announcements forum only since I'm usually the only one posting here. You shouldn't have had a problem with the other forums though. Not sure if you checked.

I haven't noticed a difference so far. Looks good
