clear the cmos. be sure to jot down your BIOS settings if youre unsure of them. also make sure you have the latest BIOS for the board. Asus is very good with new BIOS revisions for about 6months after board release. they usually get as many fixes and updates inside their BIOS' in 6 months that most board makers put in a year.
Just finished tweaking Vista.
Best site ever for tweaking XP and Vista...

That's the Vista guide, but you can easily find the XP one there too.

Got my RAM today.
Showing all 4 GB's!
I did find a driver issue today with my Canon DSLR camera. I can't transfer files from my camera to my computer via the USB cable because there is no WIA driver for 64 bit. Right now I'm just using my laptop to transfer them, but in the future I may get a CF card reader if Canon doesn't release a driver.

Alright, this is for all you Vista users. Does your task manager look similar to this?
That's with Firefox and Pidgin open. When I close both, the memory usage still hovers around 1 GB. I have no other programs open, and the process list is displaying 0 usage for background programs running (which there are barely any since I tweaked Vista). Same goes for the CPU usage. When I had XP, my CPU usage was always around 0 to 1% at idle. With Vista, I never drop below 20% when nothing is open.

normal. untweaked vista itself uses 500-700MB.
your low Vista Experience score is interesting. what's the lowest single component score? hard drive?
the Experience score isnt a big deal but it is a general overview of Vista performance. your Final score is simply your lowest individual score. on most systems this is the gfx card since most have onboard video

normal CPU usage for me is 5-30%. it hovers around 30% for minutes on end. i think it's indexing files for Live Search (fantastic Vista feature). either way "idle" to me is Winamp, Vent, Steam, Fraps, RivaTuner, Bandwidth Monitor, X-Fi tray tool, G15 keyboard LCD applet program, Coretemp, and RivaTuner's OSD. plus i have a handful of G15 LCD applets running that are constantly polling everything from winamp to FPS to CPU and GPU temps.
Here's the scores:
I turned the hard disk indexing/search service off, and disabled it on all drives. Aero is also off and most of the fancy UI shit. I just don't get what is using that much RAM and CPU.
The tweaking is safe Tanis...just read through the whole thing before going buttfucking wild.

Foxx, as the Vet 64bit user here, there will be no 64 bit driver.
Just get what you need for it to function.
Most companies have a had time releasing 1 driver that'll run on 32bit.
I can only think of 2-3 companies that have made consistent 64 bit patching.
1 ironically enough is Mac (itunes)
the other is Nvidia.
