Podcast subject thread

Postby Centari » Thu Dec 18, 2008 12:38 pm

Basically start posting subjects for Reid and I to talk about on our newest podcast adventure.

(Foxx please sticky this thread)

Post questions you have, recents events, or even post a personal story that you want advice on.(Reid, since you can apparently edit other people's stuff, go ahead and put in anything else you want to say)

Enjoy!

More topics:

- Discuss why Pulp Fiction is the best movie ever...and Eskie can provide the opposite view.

- Discuss movies that recently came out and review them.

- Music?

- Should men wear pajamas?

And last night we were talking about organization and whatnot. I could always draft up a rough script for each podcast that you guys could use as a template on what to talk about so there is some sort of semblance to the whole thing.

Example for the 1st one:

Intro - You guys introduce yourselves, state the # of the podcast, date, etc. Maybe give a short list of the topics you'll be discussing. Gotta keep people interested...

Topic 1 - The Stolen Eye's history. Elric talks about our GW days and how we came to be, and I talk about our TF2 period and give some background on that. Then you guys could interject and ask questions as we're talking and at the end give a current update to what we're doing now.

Topic 2 - Ball or fold? Have a bunch of us be asked our method of TP usage. Have Jif on to explain his double dip method.

Topic 3 - Review some new technology or talk about a movie or something random for the last segment. You guys could always just ramble about something funny.

Closing - Thank everyone for listening and perhaps give a preview for next week and some closing randomness.

For Eskie:

I just found this out...

You don't even have to convert the .vrf file anymore. The newer versions of Ventrillo have an "Export" button in the recording playback section that allows you to save as a .wav. Then all you have to do is edit it and save it as a .mp3 with your sound editing program.

Right click in Vent and go to View > Record / Playback. Get your .vrf file open and then just hit Export.

you can use http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ for a quick and easy sound editor. if you need anything stronger look into Soundforge, Adobe Soundbooth, or even Nero Ultimate 9 with the video and audio editor. also i can do the audio editing if you dont want to be bothered with it

goldwave is a decent editor as well. you have to use the demo unless you pay for it though

Yeah I used to use Goldwave a lot. Recently I found and I really like it.

BTDubs, if you want...I could always edit the podcast.

And I was thinking about intro/outro music. For the time being, we could just add in a 10-20 second song clip at the beginning and end (kinda like Yahtzee used to do...not sure if it's legal or not?).

If we really wanted to be cool, we could compose a theme song and have our musically talented members play their instrument and somehow make a song out of that.
