Me and my cellular

Postby Sonic » Tue Apr 28, 2009 4:25 pm

Looking to switch to a smart phone.

Not a fan of windows mobile.

Needs to work in 48109 and 49091.

Less than 300 anytimes.

I use around 2000 nights and weekends

1500 texts a month is pretty normal.

I want SOME data, check IMDB for movies, etc. nothing too heavy or email related though.

Options please?

The way I see it, there are three choices: iPhone, Winmo, blackberry. Anything else IMHO, is garbage. Maybe someone can offer better input than that, or to the contrary.

BB is great for txt, plenty of carrier options, but the web browser on anything but the Storm or Bold are crap, unless the new Curve has the new web browser. Storm is utter garbage, and the Bold is mucho expensive.

Winmo you stated, you don't like.

You can get like 400anytime, unlim nights and weekends, and 1500 txt for a decent price on AT&T for the iPhone, but it's far from the cheapest. You can also pick up refurb iPhones through AT&T, that all reports I have read look like brand new, as they replace the casing. $99 for a 3g iPhone 8gb I believe. You pay $10 more a month for 3G though, and I don't think you can opt to just pay for 2G, so you could consider buying an iphone 2G off ebay out of contract to avoid that monthly cost. Personally, I love the iPhone. I use it with Exchange for work, works great. The apps are great, especially some of the games that rival DS titles for content (Rolando, Super Monkey Ball, Crash Racing, etc).

Yeah, the devices I'm really looking at are the BB bold and curve 8900. Oh and the other thing I forget to mention I always always hate touch. The iphone is the only one I don't hate, its actually good. But I'm still a button guy.

I have the curve and i can text lightning fast on it. I love this phone! I dont have any multimedia plan so i have no input on that. As for the iphone look to pay about $99 a month for the plan.

Unlimited text for the whole family for $30.
Not sure about the minutes, but I have unlimited mobile to mobile.
It is part of the family plan. My carrier is at&t.

how do you have 2 iphones @ 50/ea? theyre bare minimum $60 just for minimum voice plan and the require data plan and thats not including all the BS extra costs they throw in

there was an article released last week about what the iphone means to ATT and would it could mean to VZW. the average ATT cell bill is like $60/mo while the average iphone bill is $99.
