its working off of a theory, but an element of the theory they are working worth is 'Cause and Effect'. This theory states that if Joe's dad didnt meet Joe's mom, then Joe would not exist.

The End of the movie states (YOU SHOULD HAVE WATCHED THE DAMN MOVIE BEFORE OPENING THIS THREAD SO NO BITCHING ABOUT SPOILERS!) Donnie kills Frank, by doing so creates a paradox. If they dont fix the paradox the timeline goes boom. So in order to prevent donnie from killing Frank and altering history he sends the engine back in time to just kill himself which is the normal course of things.

NOW! Frank is the one who lures Donnie away from his room so he doesnt die from the engine. Donnie should already have been killed in the timeline so there would be no dead Frank and thus no Bunny to come back and drag Donnie away from his room. Thus, the movie starts and begins with Donnie dying.

My major complaint about this film, is they have this theory of time travel that they execute so poorly that they break it themselves. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the film (some of the lines in the film were outstanding), but to call this a good time travel movie is false.

According to what you posted, the tangent universe is created when Frank takes Donnie out of his room. The thing is that Frank is dead because the engine didnt kill Donnie because Frank took Donnie out of his room so he didnt die from the engine.

SO, how did the tangent universe happen? When Frank the bunny took donnie out of his room avoiding his death. So Frank the bunny, which only would have existed IF Donnie had killed him originally comes and produces his own death. The point im trying to get across is that if they were following this theory of time travel of cause and effect (Donnie kills himself by sending engine back in time to prevent it from happening), then frank the bunny would not exist to pull Donnie out of his room to prevent Donnie from dying and creating the tangent universe.
