i like corsair PSUs a lot but this is probably the best PSU for the price and it has any connector he could possibly want (except 2 FDDs... only has 1): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341011

Yeah, I'm gonna go with Tenken here and say get this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139006

What other parts do we need?

I think he's all set except for RAM and a Case. I edited the first post and stuck some links in.

The MOBO link doesn't work...and I'm not sure what you had Brian so please fix that.

The thing with RAM is...if he gets 4 GB's, he's gonna have to use 64-bit Vista to use it all. I have a copy of said Vista, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to use the same key.

RAM:

Vista 32 and 64 use the same keys. all you need is the proper ISO/DVD. also there are some very high quality torrents of Vista Ultimate with both 32 and 64bit editions on 1 disc. they also don't require a CD key nor activation and Windows Update works 100%

about the PSU...i never said the corsair was bad. it's an excellent PSU for the price...IF the PCP&C wasnt on sale for $40 off.

there are only 2 sites i trust with PSU reviews; ardOCP and JonnyGURU.

both supplies rate extremely well at both sites:

Corsair TX750: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art ... VzaWFzdA==
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?na ... y4&reid=73

Quad Silencer 750: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art ... xoZW50aHVz
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?na ... y4&reid=63

[H] gives Gold to PCPC and Silver to the Corsair model, JG gives 9/10 to both with a "Recommended" moniker. Both are excellent choices. Both have single 60a Railes meaning they'll run any combination of GFX cards that they have plugs for. Both will run SLI'ed 8800GTX's without breaking a sweat. BOth have 5 year warranties. Both are backed by excellent customer service and RMA depts (PCPC is owned by OCZ which is my favorite company to have to RMA something to). Both are MORE than mike needs.

I like the PCPC for the same price but if he doesnt want a red unit (i think it's totally pimp) then go for the Corsair.

This is officially my maiden post on the forum using my new rig.

After a grand total of 7 hours putting it together/installing drivers/testing benchmarks, it is up an running.

See my sig for the new specs.

P.S. I'm awesome.

that looks like the evga 750i SLI FTW, which is a supurb mobo. same one i recommended to Tenken. does it have a triangley-shaped heatsink fan on the northbridge? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage ... -%20Retail

that's the SLi FTW board is is great...

i forgot you had SLI and wasnt thinking about motherboard support. there's only a few nvidia boards i'd recommend and this is #1 for bang for the buck
