Umm.... caps have the ability to stop a beating heart even if the device is unpluged right? Sounds like its a whole board or nothing at all then cause im not going to risk improperly discharging a capictor, even if its only on a monitor.

They can pack a punch, not much on the smaller ones...but don't risk anything.

I never saw a buldging capicator before but im pretty sure that there are 2 on my power supply board that are buldging. The tops of them look a little deformed compared to the rest. Found a whole new PS board from Viewsonic for about 32 bucks. Im gonna go for it since all of my computer money for the next 3 months went into the video card. This is my first time diagnosing/repairing complex electronics. Im sure I could solder some new caps in but I dont know what else may have been damaged as a result of the blown caps. Well see what happens. Wish me luck.

If I had a better camara you could see the rounded tops of the capacitors. That means their bad. New board for 35.00 bucks and im back in bussiness!
