WTS: SSD

Postby Darkfoxx » Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:15 pm

Just putting a feeler out there for now...

I'm thinking of selling my OCZ Vertex 120GB SATA II SSD and getting a larger one. Would anyone be interested?

I paid $359.00 for it new back in Oct 2009. The current model goes for $249: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820227395

I'd be willing to let it go for $175-ish. Reasonable offers accepted. It's still in great condition and is lightning fast.

Last call. I'll let it go for $100. Anyone?

I'll be getting a 256 GB SSD soon.

Shit, the price went down a lot. I looked on ebay and it was $95-100.

It ain't trash. I'll probably just keep it if no one buys it, as it will be my spillover drive for application installs.

Haha, yeah I have the 120 GB SSD for OS/Games/Apps.

Then ~1.5 TB re-purposed porn storage. It's all movies, TV shows, and music now. I've been pissing through diskspace like crazy because I've been going through my movies and replacing anything under 720p with its HD counterpart.

I have an unused 1 TB drive that I acquired from a certain job I no longer work at. I need to put in my case soon, but I'll have to take a drive out because I have no bays left. I'll have to take shit off of my smallest drive (I think it's 200gb) and then swap the 1 TB drive in.

i dont keep games on the ssd. i dont care if they might run faster, there is no need to run games on ssds when harddrives are more than fast enough to load stuff, especially with how efficiently most games load resources.

imo, of course.

applications i like starting quickly, sure, like firefox and my graphics drivers and shit, sure, but harddrives are bonkers fast on sata 3

Yea, I don't have SATA 3 though. Load times for games on an SSD are exponentially faster anyways.

most games you wont even notice it, though, since outside of the initial boot, the game loads everything before its needed, which means for the most part, while the computer might notice, it wont effect the overall gameplay much...
i do agree, though, and id buy that ssd from you, mate, if i had the money or the need. im running close to out on my ssd, but i dont keep much on it. 64gb doesnt go so far...

I'm building for the future! This will be the first piece of my new PC build which I expect to do before the end of the year. It will be the rape 'n shit.

i guess u would rather spend 40 seconds loading up a map every 20 minutes instead of 15. in big games like BF3 its extremely noticeable, and BF3 loads maps in the background before the game even launches (you join servers via web browser and it loads the game and map in the background. then when it's ready it launches you in-game staring at the squad screen). it can take 90 seconds to load BF3 + map off a mech drive, but it takes me like 20 seconds on the SSD. if i had to spend 90 seconds to load a game+map i'd probably get bored, lose interest, cancel the load, and find something else to play
