Yeah so going on what I said on FB...I think I'm just gonna keep the car and work on it slowly since I'll actually have a place to work on it now.

Issues:
-Exhaust manifold leaking oil/smoking (posted about this a while ago)
-idles very hard now
-needs tires BAD
-paint chipping/body damage
-has trouble starting...might just be cold/lack of driving
-pretty much all fluids need to be changed

I tried selling it but I'll get nowhere near what it's worth.

You're not leaking exhaust right? You're only leaking oil onto your exhaust last I heard.

-idles very hard now
Has the battery died or been disconnected recently? Has the check engine been on anytime in recent memory, even going back to the last time I saw you?

-needs tires BAD
Search out a place that sells used and don't drive it in the snow, as if you had a reason :)

-paint chipping/body damage
It was in an accident, right? Anyone who does even the minimal amount of homework will know that. Keep this in mind when evaluating how much you consider to be it's worth.

-has trouble starting...might just be cold/lack of driving
What exactly does it do?
Does it crank really slow like the battery is weak?
-or-
Does it crank strong and fast but take a long time to "catch" and fire up?

-pretty much all fluids need to be changed
You already changed the coolant with BMW fluid. How many miles does it have on it now? I can come up with a manufacture recommended maintenance schedule if you don't already have one. Honestly' I don't think you need to change any fluids.

No exhaust leaks...just burning oil that smells terrible and smokes.

Yup, I had to replace the battery because it died a while ago. Like back in Oct. No check engine light. I have the code reader I bought...should I connect it sometime and see what's up?

Aye, sounds good. I might sell my Bridgestone blizzaks to get money for regular tires...since I'm not using them anyways. We drive the Fiat probably 95% of the time.

Yeah it was. No frame damage though, just shitty ass patch work that someone tried to do on the paint. So I would have to have it all sanded down and repainted. This is mainly why I just want to keep it at this point, unless you don't think it's worth it. Maybe I could get like 7-9k at carmax.

Cranks really slow...and then it starts but it acts like the battery was disconnected (time reset, trip reset, etc). After I take it out for a quick spin it starts fine.

It's at ~71100. I never did the 60k "BMW inspection II" that changes the trans fluid, brake fluid, replace spark plugs, general greasing of things, and a whole lot of other checks. Didn't have money at the time because I was unemployed. Things are a bit different now. I have been getting oil changes though...of course.

Your idle problem could be happening because your not keeping your battery charged up. When the battery is disconnected it clears the ECM's keep alive memory and its learned profile of what the idle should be and how to keep it there. This needs to be relearned and not driving the car doesn't help. Most times, cleaning the throttle body will fix your idle problem. but should be done by a professional. Potentially, getting the car running, letting it idle for an hour and keeping it from losing it's memory again should also fix this.

If you paint the car you likely won't raise it's value. If I were you, I would take a loss on the car and move on to something more practical then some little BMW. Your car does not have the street value you will hope that it has. Put as little as you can into it, dump it on someone and don't look back. My professional advice.

Yeah I'm heavily leaning towards that.

Yeah so it won't even start now. Battery seems to be plenty strong (lights work, radio, etc). When I go to start it, it doesn't even sound like it's turning over anymore. I just hear a clicking noise inside and that's about it. The lights flash and shit. The headlights pulse with the clicking and the yellow ABS indicator light stays lit. Do you think the starter is bad? Not quite sure what to do at this point.

That was it. Bingo bango. Thanks man!

Any tips for keeping the battery alive if I'm not using the car? Should I disconnect the terminals?

You can try keeping it disconnected, might work. Other then that, not much you can do besides run the engine.
