Postby Tanis Half Elf » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:07 am

I need help in choosing a monitor out of these 2. Pretty sure the ASUS is the better pic. Help me decide

I like to stick with LG and Samsung when it comes to monitors.

Samsung 24"

LG 24"

Better response time and contract ratio on the LG, but the Samsung has more resolution.

Use promo code: EMCLRNW47 to get another $20 off that Asus. Got it in an email this morning from them. I would go with the Asus. I have the 24" version, and love it. 2 of my friends have 2 of the 25.5" monitors each, and are pleased.

Whatever you do, get something with a 2ms response time, I can point you to tests comparing 5ms to 2ms, and won't go above 2ms again now.

Oh, and in response to Foxx brand preference. I like both of those brands as well, but as most of us know, these panels are made by a handful of manufacturers, and quite often only one manufacturer makes a certain panel size so all brands are using the same panel. Electronics can make a difference, but only so much as long as you avoid really trashy brands. If you want to get hardcore, research who makes the 25.5" panels at that res and which are preferred.

if youre not gonna be doing a lot of gaming then any of them mentioned will be fine. ive read, surprisingly, that Gateway makes an absolutely phenomenal 24"

do you want 16:10 or 16:9 or doesnt matter?

I am going to do a TON of gaming on this machine. In terms of aspect ratio, i would like the one that looks the best, but i am limited on funds. So, im not willing to pay much xtra for it, if any at all.

Ok so my pic for monitory is going to be ASUS, the built in speakers are a plus, but not the main reason of choice. This look like a good monitor for gaming?

Ok, thanks Texrob for the reassurance. I didn't expect the speaker quality to be very good. They will be more of a temporary thing until I build up some more bank.

Nah, I have headphones. Or if it is too bad I'll just take the ones from my mom's comp that they never use.

I just got my monitor hooked up. I am using a dual monitor set up with my laptop atm. I am really loving it. Ohh, and texrob I am gonna have to steal my parent's speakers or something. These speakers are completely garbage! I already knew this tho. :P
