i havent been following monitors. i use a 32" 1080p TV as my display

i did find this tho: http://www.compusa.com/applications/sea ... 254-_-48hr

I-sync or w/e is probably a crappy brand and it probably uses a shitty TN panel but it's 28" and the same rez so it'd look good. quality, DPI, GtG response time might suck, i dunno. just saw it in my email

Ok, I am gonna go stock, and will worry about overclocking a couple of weeks after getting my system.

To continue this learning experience what are dangerous temperature when the cpu is under full load? I have done some research but the numbers vary an extreme amount.

i have no idea. the Core2's hit 70 C easily and without problems but even the stock cooler will generally keep them below 60. with myt TRU (non-extreme) im @ 34 C at stock with Q6700 and when it was OCed it hit 65 under full load, which was rare.

not sure what i7 temps are but i imagine under 65 during load is fine and probably 40-50 @ idle is common

I run at 27 C idle w/ my stock Q6600 and . I rarely go over 40 C under load.

I'm very anal when it comes to temperatures.

In terms of the i7, Noctua always places in the #1 spot in HSF testing.

I'm guessing the i7 just runs hot. With that HSF and with no overclocking the cpu still runs 57c under load. Overclocked to 3.5GHZ it runs at 67.5c under load.

There were other sites that showed similar values.

This chip fails when it hits 92c. There are ppl who are OC'ing this thing to 3.8GHZ and getting a safe 83c at 100% load for several hours. I think i will stick to 3.5GHZ and stick in the low 70's(c)

Edit: I am going to order my monitor and case over the weekend before the promo codes run out.

btdubbs here's the CoolerMaster HAF vs 900:

bigger and better in every way. there isnt a single thing i liked more about the 900. the HAF is bigger in every dimension and has more room inside than the extra external dimensions would suggest. it's laid out better and has a little better cable management (not much).

the front external drive covers are much higher quality. everything is tool-less though doesnt work well enough to never use screws. i had to screw in my gfx card cause it was too heavy for the plastic brackets. also used a screw each for the dvd drive and creative x-fi drive cause the tool-less bracket only secures the left side.

the HDD bays are awesome and way way better than the 900. i loved there being room above my mobo. the entire mobo tray is very open and has great access all around it.

larger fans all around. 900 has 1x200 and 3 standard 120's with 2 more optional. HAF has 3x230's and 1 140 and the extra space inside really lets the air flow.

HAF might be a little louder, i havent had it long enough yet to be sure. since i havent noticed a big difference its a non-issue. the antec did come with all fans having 3 speed modes which is actually the only thing i liked more about the 900 and it took me this long to think of it.

i like how you can mount the PSU at the top or bottom. if you mount at the top you need to remove the 230mm fan but you still put 1 or 2 120mms in its place and also put 2 120s in the bottom.

the 1 LED fan in the HAF is much more...uh...i dunno, professional maybe? the 900 has 3 tri-cools with bright bright bright blue LEDs that kept me up until i replaced the fans/cut the LEDs. the HAF has the front 230 with very subtle red LEDs. they dont even glow into my room, they really just highlight the fan and looks really awesome. i dont normally like flashy LEDs and this looks mature and not like a 13 y/o's PC

gonna post pics of the setup in a diff thread

Also I just noticed my HDD activity LED on the case is not working. I doubled checked and I hooked it up right, maybe the LED is dead or something.... very aggravating.
