So I'm planning on finally doing a completely new build. I've had my current build for almost 4 years now...and I can still play anything I throw at it. Fucking rock solid!
This new build is put together to last another 4 years...hopefully. As long as gaming technology doesn't change too much I'll be aight.
Marvel at this beauty!

No HSF yet. Still deciding between water cooling or air.
Main HDD will be a OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB) which I bought today.

Re: Future PC Build
i like it, overall. i think the cpu is probably a little overkill for, like, the next 10 years. find something with a higher clock speed and fewer cores: almost nothing you find these days can use 6 cores. trust me, i found that out.
i like the case, but im partial towards cooler master. i think its layed out nicer.
if you are going to spend that much money on a graphics card, though, spend another fifty and get this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125413
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121560
that mobo is fucking beautiful, though. also, even though its already got a sound card, getting another can be really helpful, since onboard sound can get pretty nasty with surround.

hes an nvidia guy. nvidia seems to be winning this round of cards, too. hardocp has the card he posted giving the same or better gaming experience as the more expensive 7970: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/05/ ... ing_perf/4
basically the the gtx670 is the best buy of the higher end cards. it equals or outperforms the 7970 for at least $50 cheaper at stock speeds. once overclocked, the 7970 is a much better card and competes more with the GTX680. sounds like both are great cards. the AMD only shines if you dont mind overclocking your gfx card (i dont mind at all)

just commenting on the redundancy

Oh god I didn't even notice that. Should have been Light not LED.... I was really gonzo.

I agree to a point. I know it's overkill, but I'm trying to build something semi-future proof. Hell, my quad core still isn't fully utilized by most games, but hopefully soon we'll be using more cores...
Might go with this if I wanna go cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115070
But after looking at this article on HardOCP, I think I stick with my first choice. That CPU rapes when it comes to video conversion.
