Fantasy Football 2015
Re: Fantasy Football 2015
My vote is everyone goes on waiver once their game starts.
Can defense be scored on by yard allowed? Feel that some good defenses are being punished by their awful offense.
Can special teams get points for return yards?

You'll be able to vote on this at the end of the season, hold tight.

Yes, we tried this one season a few years back (2011). We tracked both points allowed and yards allowed. I liked it actually...I'm not opposed, however I don't mind the points allowed setup either. I can go either way.
These are the scoring parameters:
Defensive Yards Allowed - Negative
Defensive Yards Allowed 0-99
Defensive Yards Allowed 100-199
Defensive Yards Allowed 200-299
Defensive Yards Allowed 300-399
Defensive Yards Allowed 400-499
Defensive Yards Allowed 500+
I don't remember the values assigned to each but here are some for example in another league:
Defensive Yards Allowed - Negative = 25
Defensive Yards Allowed 0-99 = 10
Defensive Yards Allowed 100-199 = 5
Defensive Yards Allowed 200-299 = 0
Defensive Yards Allowed 300-399 = 0
Defensive Yards Allowed 400-499 = -5
Defensive Yards Allowed 500 = -10
As a note: you can choose to only track a few of those. Say you only want to use the first three settings to reward a defense...you would just enable the first three. IMO if your defense allows negative yardage, you should just get an ungodly amount of points lol. It has happened in NFL history too...I had to check that stat (−7 yards gained, Seattle Seahawks vs Los Angeles Rams, Nov 4, 1979)
Even with Peyton's stinker last week, Denver still got 221 yards and we know that KC isn't really a great defense, so I don't think a bonus is due at any point after 200 yards. They got enough points just from normal defensive scoring. I don't really like the negative points after 400 yards either. I can't fault two teams from blowing up on offense and going crazy.
If we went this route I would stick with bonuses under 200 yards allowed -or- switch to defensive yards allowed instead of points allowed as the main meat of a DST's scoring.

They can, yes. Should they? Noooo...but we can vote on it. I know Bumbs will beat you over the head for even mentioning it.

Re: Fantasy Football 2015
I like the idea of putting everyone on waivers once the games start. This will definitely make the waiver position move a lot more and become a lot more valuable.
I think one of the most important thoughts going into next season is how to improve the value of each position as much as you can without making it seem like a stupid advantage.
For example, I feel like making the Defense scored by yards allowed would bring a lot more value to that position. You would still be getting around the same amount of points and it would also give advantage to consistent defenses. The other thing is that this would eliminate those times when you lost points because the teams QB threw a pick 6.
One big thing I have noticed in this league is that it is extremely touchdown dependent. It's not a bad thing, but I liked the increase to value on WR yards this year because it gave more depth at the WR position.
I don't wan't to comment on RB scoring after this season's horrible experience with them.
There needs to be some way to possibly improve the quality of TEs in our league. They are far and few each year, but I feel there must be something to do that would slightly increase their value.
There were some changes made to the points the Kicker position for this last year that I also liked and feel its improved the position overall this year.
Thats currently my two cents on scoring and the other policies. Next year is starting to sound exciting!

Everyone on waivers once their game starts is good. I would like to keep the waiver system the way it is. Makes you think about how you use your waiver claim and gives more strategy.
An option to increase value for WR and TE is .5 PPR or 1 PPR. Personally I like .5 PPR. 1 PPR is too much.
I also really like the idea of an IR slot.

i'm not opposed to keeping it standard but what are your objections?
Re: Fantasy Football 2015
another thing that might make it seem less TD dependent is change the scoring for yards. right now it's like .05 for 1 yard receiving or rushing and then there are bonuses. if you double it and remove bonuses then you will end up with much higher numbers for RBs, WR, and TE.
so for a 100 yard game (a pretty stinkin good games for those positions) would be 10 points + TD's.
might be a little too much but say .7 points the 100 yards = 7 points + TD's
the bonuses are cool but your players seem to do nothing unless they hit those thresholds

I'm not a fan of PPR at all. I highly suggest against going that route.
We can look at changing yardage points though.

Re: Fantasy Football 2015
I'll do it by next season, see if I can do some kind of stats anaylsis that will balance scoring as we desire...
Re: Fantasy Football 2015
If we don't want to do PPR that's fine. People do it to balance out WR I assume because the ball gets spread around a ton. WR1 sees maybe 10-15 passes a game where a RB1 sees 20-25 touches a game. RBs have a lot more chances to score more points.
I know you said that the league is set up to only have 2 RBs but it doesn't really feel that way. The bonus scoring for RBs and WR is different with WR getting the extra +1 point for 50 yards. I feel like that favors WR more than RB and therefore it wouldn't be a big deal to add RB to the flex spot. The FLEX spot should have nothing to do with how many RB injuries there are.

Re: Fantasy Football 2015
Are you guys trying to balance the scoring or get more points or less? I never really got why we're having this discussion. I don't have any issues with the scoring

Just looking for constructive input. We don't have to change anything if that's the consensus...
Enough people have been vocal about a few things to warrant a vote.
Re: Fantasy Football 2015
So can we get a discussion on the W/T spot? I would really like to make this a true flex spot next year and do RB/WR/TE. I know fox said the league was set up to only have to RB but I just don't see it with the scoring. Since TE have been relatively useless this season outside of the top 5 or so it just seems like another WR slot since chances are you aren't gonna have two top 5 TE.

I like this league for this reason that there isn't a third RB slot. I know it's a standard option in most leagues but if you want that then you can play in those leagues. Bumbs has explained this before that there is such little depth at RB where most teams aren't using 3-4 running backs like they use wide outs. If you have the slot then you're forcing people to roster more running backs on their bench and taking some huge depth into teams where you might be taking RB3 or RB4.
